BROADCASTER Ted Failon has filed arbitrary detention, perjury and grave coercion charges against Metro Manila police chief Roberto Rosales and several other policemen with the Office of the Ombudsman for allegedly trying to frame him for his wife’s death in April 2009.

Failon (Mario Teodoro Failon Etong in real life) also filed a civil suit against the policemen with the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (QCRTC) in which he asked for P10 million in damages for malicious prosecution.

In a 24-page complaint submitted to the Ombudsman, Failon, his sister-in-law Pamela Arteche-Trinchera and his house help—Pacifico Arteche Apacible, Carlota Morbos, Wilfreda Bollicer and Glen Polan—said that Rosales and his men tried to pin on the broadcaster the death of his wife Trina who, investigators later said, committed suicide.

At the same time, they accused Rosales, former Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Chief Supt. Elmo San Diego and their men of arbitrary detention, perjury, grave coercion and violating the rights of arrested individuals.
