Starting July, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board will require all taxi cab-drivers to issue receipts to passengers.
LTFRB chairman Alberto Suansing said the Supreme Court has already given the go signal for its implementation.
“Tuloy na sa July,†Suansing said.
The receipts should have started to be issued last January but some cab operators appealed for a deferment of the requirement until July.
The LTFRB and taxi operators are discussing further what information would be put on the receipts.
Currently, there are an estimated 32,000 franchised taxi units with some drivers already issuing receipts to their passengers. - Dennis Carcamo, Philippine Star
