The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) Wednesday said Tropical Storm "Bebeng" (AERE) has accelerated rapidly and is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
PAGASA said as of 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, "Bebeng" was estimated at 640 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes (25.4°N, 126.7°E).
It is moving northeastward at 33 km. per hour with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
By Wednesday evening, PAGASA said "Bebeng" is at 990 km. northeast of Basco, Batanes or 230 km. northeast of Okinawa, Japan.
The weather bureau also said residents living along the coastal areas of extreme Northern Luzon area are alerted of possible storm surges.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the Inter-tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is affecting Visayas and Mindanao with mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. (PNA)
