The low pressure area that has been hovering inside the country's area of responsibility for the past 12 days has already dissipated, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.
In an interview, PAGASA weather forecaster Joey Figuracion said that the LPA dissipated due to the intrusion of cold air mass coming from northeast monsoon and also the presence of two high-pressure areas (HPAs) off the Pacific Ocean.
The LPA, which earlier intensified into tropical depression "Agaton," was the first tropical depression to hit the country this year.
Even before it developed into a tropical depression late last week, it already brought intermittent heavy rains in the Visayas and Mindanao, Figuracion said.
With the LPA gone, Figuracion said that expect gradual improvement in Eastern Visayas and Mindanao. - PNA
