ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Social Security System (SSS) on Monday reopened its claims processing center to better serve its members in Western Mindanao area.
Lawyer Rodrigo Filoteo, SSS assistant vice president for Western Mindanao, said the center will process claims, such as maternity, sickness, disability, death and retirement, which are previously being processed at the SSS central office.
Filoteo said the center “is now fully operational” and is manned by eight personnel.
“Claims submitted in Western Mindanao will be processed here and this will hasten the processing of documents unlike before it takes about three months to finish,” Filoteo said.
“This time it will only take one week to process claims as long as the documents are complete,” he added.
The processing center was closed in 2012 by then SSS president and chief executive officer Emilio De Quiros Jr.
Since then until it was reopened, the SSS Western Mindanao office only received documents for claims and forwarded them to the central office for processing and approval.
There are more or less two million members in areas that are under the SSS Western Mindanao office.
Filoteo’s office covers the provinces of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi, which are part of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Isabela City and Zamboanga City. (PNA)
