P200K reward for arrest of 'serial rapist' in Pampanga

PAMPANGA, Philippines  – The provincial government here offered a P200,000 reward money for the arrest an alleged serial rapist who victimized at least 17 dentists, two of whom are from Pampanga and Bulacan.

Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda made the announcement during an emergency meeting of the Pampanga chapter of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) with the police following the release of the suspect’s photo.

The suspect was identified as one Alex Veltran of Barangay Sta. Lucia in Sta. Ana town.

Provincial police Senior Supt. Edgardo Tinio said “the suspect uses many names and we have yet to identify his real name.”
Tinio said Veltran could not be a Capampangan. He reportedly robbed a female dentist and tried to rape her at her clinic in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Mexico last June 23.

“The suspect was speaking in Capampangan when he was robbing the victim. But it doesn’t mean he is from here,” said Tinio after the presentation of the suspect’s photo.

Tinio said “there is no need to be alarmed but residents, notably dentists, should be vigilant.”

He said the suspect could also be behind the series of rape and robbery of 15 dentists from various clinics in Metro Manila. He added that he had been identified by his latest victims from the gallery of photos provided by the police.

Police Supt. Jhoanna Ponseca-Rosales, chief of the police community relations branch of the Pampanga Police Office (PPO), organized a series of meetings and seminars last month to warn dentists of the suspect’s modus operandi.

Unfortunately, the victim from Mexico was operated on and could not attend one of the seminars conducted before the suspect attacked her clinic last June, it was learned.

Tinio said the victim had pleaded to the suspect to spare her from being raped due to her operation. The suspect believed her and just left after robbing her. -- http://www.philstar.com/

Ang dentist dili man na  mao rang usa sa clinic, naay clerk ni sila unya
 syaro wala makabantay nga naglagubo na sa sulod?

MANILA, Philippines - Two suspects who prey on female dentists have been arrested by authorities.

In a report from dzMM’s Ricky Velasco, the main suspect, Albert dela Cruz, was positively identified by his victims.

Police were able to apprehend him on Sunday morning at his home in San Fernando, Pampanga. His hideout was revealed by one of his cohorts, Ronald Policarpio, who was arrested last Wednesday.

Both were presented to the media this afternoon by the National Capital Region Police Office.

NCRPO Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said dela Cruz, who hides by the name Alvin, Alex, among others, tried to evade arrest by wielding a balisong (butterfly knife) and a tear gas against the authorities.

Purisima said police are still on the lookout for several more suspects with the same modus operandi.

The suspects have gained notoriety after preying on female dentists in different parts of the country.

Some 23 dentists and assistants have become victims of either robbery, sexual molestation or both since August last year. Most of them are from Quezon City (13), while the others are from other parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Police sketch of the suspect, aged 35 to 38, has a round face and fair complexion, and sports a crew cut, similar to a police officer's.

Why dentists?

So why does the suspect specifically target dentists, of all people?

Dr. Bernadette Arcena, a psychiatrist, said the suspect may have experienced rejection from a female dentist at one point in his life, causing him to take revenge on others who are members of the same profession.

Asked why the suspect molests dentists or masturbates in front of them, Arcena said he may have paraphilia.

Paraphilia involves sexual arousal and gratification toward any extreme behavior such as exhibitionism or non-consensual touching of another person's private parts.
