Sen. Robinhood Padilla underscored the importance of laws that would ensure the rights of every gender particularly on cases of sexual harassment happening in the work place.
During the continuation of the Committee on Public Information and Mass Media's inquiry into the policies of television networks and artist management agencies regarding abuse and harassment complaints Thursday, August 15, 2024, Padilla stated that the committee aimed to clarify whether existing sexual harassment laws disproportionately favor women due to the misconception that men cannot be victims of rape.
Padilla expressed hope that the committee, with the input from resource persons, would be able to develop new measures or amend existing laws on sexual harassment and rape to guarantee equal rights for all genders.
