It’s all systems go for the launch of Project Kabayanihan at the San Pedro Astrodome, Pacita Complex here with Presidential sister Balsy Aquino-Cruz as guest of honor and speaker leading the rites.
Project Kabayanihan, an undertaking by various non-government organizations, aims to tap the country’s senior citizens and the youth in initiating and implementing projects and programs designed to uplift their lot, the well-being of their communities, and assist government in achieving programs benefiting the country and the Filipino people.
The launching rites will be participated in by more than 1,500 presidents of elderly and youth organizations in the province of Laguna, including thousands of their members, said Mayor Calixto R. Cataquiz of this fast developing metropolis, some 30 kilometers south of Manila.
Cataquiz said the launch will be graced by national and local officials, among them, Senior Citizens Party-list Rep. Reynaldo Arquiza, Paranaque City Representative and former Laguna Vice Governor Edwin Olivares, Rep. Dan S. Fernandez of the 1st district of Laguna, Fortune Tobacco Corporation president Ramon Farolan, Laguna Gov. ER Ejecito and his wife, Maita Gomez Ejercito, president of the Laguna Mayor’s League; executives of various private Companies in the province, several mayors and barangay officials in Laguna.
Mayor Cataquiz said several distinguished personalities from movie and media have been invited to grace the launch, namely bemedaled actresses Gloria Romero, Boots Anson-Roa, actor-comedian Leo Martinez, and other movie and media persons.
The launch of Project Kabayanihan is hosted jointly by the local government of San Pedro, Kabayanihan 2011 headed by Atty. Alexander Lacson and the 40,000-man strong Municipal Alliance of Senior Citizens Association of San Pedro, Inc. (MASCASPI) composed of 40 chapters spread in various subdivisions and villages in the town’s 20 barangays.
