The Philippines assumed this month the chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) committee in Seoul, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.

An article on the DFA website (
www.dfa.gov.ph) said this development kicked off a six-month term as head of the 10-nation committee to meet with Korean investors and officials.
"As we become more integrated into one market of 567 million people, having one production base, one investment area where there is free movement of labor and capital, Korea can all the more benefit with increased markets and investments," Cruz told members of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA).
The Philippine ambassador to South Korea, Luis Cruz, said the Philippines will focus on three major tasks during its chairmanship. - GMA 7 News
