Tropical storm “Marce†(international name: Gaemi) has intensified slightly while continuing to move southeastward slowly over the sea off Zambales, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
The state weather bureau said that as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, storm Marce was located at 270 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales (15.2°N, 117.2°E) with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.
PAGASA said that Marce is forecast to move southeast at seven kph and be at 455 km west of Ambulong, Batangas by Thursday morning. By Friday morning, it is expected to be at 650 km west of Metro Manila or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Weathermen said areas within its 400-km diameter are expected to experience rainfall of 10 to 25 millimeters per hour, which is classified as “moderate to intense.â€
The weather agency added that Marce continues to enhance the southwest monsoon that will bring occasional moderate to heavy rains over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), and Bicol region.
