Philippine Taxi Operators Want P50 Flagdown Rate
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:04:16 PM »
Note: Taxis don't use gasoline; they use LPG. Why cant they reduce the flag down rate back to P25?

A consumer welfare group said that taxi operators, led by the Philippine National Taxi Operators Association (Philtoa), have withdrawn their petition for a P10-hike in the current flag-down rate of P40 before the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

National Council for Consumer Protection (NCCP) president Elvira Medina said the rollback in the prices of LPG, which is used by majority of the taxicabs as well as of diesel and gasoline, had led taxi operators to withdraw their petition.

Philtoa, the Association of Taxi Operators of Metro Manila Inc. and Association of Taxi Operators of Panay Inc., filed a joint petition with the LTFRB early this year asking for a nationwide hike in taxi fares due to the continued increase in the price of fuel products and LPG as well as in maintenance expenses.

The latest roll back in LPG prices was on June 5 when dealers lowered prices by P1 per kilo due to the lower contract prices in the international market.

A week earlaier, oil player Petron and Total Philippines also cut back auto LPG prices by P5.50 and P3.45 per kilo.

Romans 10:9-10
"If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
