President Benigno S. Aquino III undertakes another round of state visits to Southeast Asian neighbors when he travels to Indonesia and Singapore from March 7 to 11, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The visits are in the tradition of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) wherein a new Head of State pays courtesy visits to fellow ASEAN member-countries.
Last year, the President visited Thailand and Vietnam.
In Indonesia on March 7 to 9, President Aquino will meet with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to discuss bilateral issues covering fisheries cooperation, and maritime boundary delimitation.
Aquino will also witness the signing of agreements on basic education, sports cooperation, and on cooperation in preventing and combating transnational crimes and capacity building, DFA said.
On March 9 to 11, in Singapore, Aquino will meet Singaporean President SR Nathan, and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
They will discuss the Philippine government's Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives, the Philippines-Singapore Action Plan and other matters of bilateral and ASEAN concerns. - pna
