Tropical storm ‘Nina’(Prapiroon) has intensified into a typhoon but is still far to directly affect any part of the country, according to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Weather Forecaster Jori Loiz said Nina’s wind strength has increased from 95 kilometers per hour (kph) Monday afternoon to 120 kph Tuesday morning, while its gustiness rose from 120 kph to 150 kph.

As 4 a.m. Tuesday, the eye of typhoon Nina was located at 1,050 km east of Cagayan (18.4°N, 132.8°E) and forecast to move west and accelerated at 15 kph from 9 kph, Loiz said.

With its speed, he added that Nina is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday or Sunday towards Japan.

Loiz also said that the typhoon was expected not to make a landfall in any part of the country. So far, no public storm warning signal has been raised.

PAGASA said areas within the 700-km diameter of the typhoon are expected to experience rains of 5 to 15 millimeters per hour, classified as “moderate to heavy.”

Meanwhile, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) spotted in northeast of Virac,Catanduanes has dissipated.

Loiz said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring light to moderate rains in Mindanao.

An ITCZ is a merge of winds from different directions, which is also a breeding ground for a low pressure area.

The rest of the country including Metro Manila will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

In its advisory, PAGASA said Bicol region, the Visayas and Davao region will have occasional light to moderate rains or thunderstorms while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with brief rainshowers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the north to northwest will prevail over Luzon and coming from the northwest to west over Eastern Visayas and Eastern Mindanao. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
