Armed Encounter with CTG Kills Patrolman Monge
Press Release: Operating police teams of 804th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8 and 2nd Eastern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company led by PLT MARK MHON T AMISTOSO, encountered a more or less ten (10) members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) while conducting humanitarian activity which resulted to the death of Patrolman Mark D Monge at the areas of San Nicolas, San Jose de Buan and Brgy. Mabuhay, Gandara, both in Samar province, earlier today, July 16, 2022.
Based on the report, said PNP teams were simultaneously conducting humanitarian activity during a police operation at the vicinity of the aforesaid towns when they were suddenly fired upon by the CTG members from nowhere. PNP teams defended and the exchange of fire lasted for about five (5) minutes until CTG members withdrew and fled towards Northeast of the encounter site.
Accordingly, Pat Monge was hit and badly wounded and as of this writing was reportedly pronounced dead on arrival in the nearest hospital while casualties or wounded on the enemy side are still undetermined.
PBGEN BERNARD M BANAC, Regional Director, was saddened with the report. “With the death of Pat Monge, we, in the PNP strongly condemn such treacherous act made by CTG members. We will not cease in chasing the perpetrators. The CTG is one of the roots of poverty in the hinterland areas of Eastern Visayas, and this has to end. We will be more intensified in our campaign against insurgency, "RD BANAC said.
