COTABATO CITY – A front-liner physician in the fight against the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) on Monday said there have been no new reported cases in this city since last month.
Dr. Faisal Samanodi, a doctor at the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC), the Covid-19 referral hospital in Central Mindanao, said the feat could be attributed to the timely lockdown in interior areas, which was imposed by the city government.
“All the six Covid-19 positive patients confined and treated at the CRMC have recovered and are now with their respective families,” he said.
The first Covid-19 confirmed case in the city was recorded on March 18, prompting Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi to place the entire city under enhanced community quarantine to contain the spread of the disease.
With the mayor as head, the city’s inter-agency task force on Covid-19 was also activated to implement the ECQ guidelines.
Samanodi said health front-liners who have been working round-the-clock are hopeful that no new cases would emerge, even as he appealed to the public to stay at home for everyone’s safety.
“Continue wearing masks even if no new positive case has been reported, maintain physical distancing too,” Samanodi said in an interview. (PNA)
