The Department of Justice has filed before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court the 58th murder case against former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr., his son, former Datu Unsay town Mayor Andal Ampatuan Jr., and more than 100 other accused in the Maguindanao massacre case.
The massacre claimed the lives of 57 civilians, including 15 women and 30 media practitioners in Ampatuan town, Maguindanao on Nov. 23, 2009.
The 58th complaint for murder was filed before the Quezon City RTC Branch 221, which has been handling the 57 counts of murder against the Ampatuans and the other accused.
In January this year, Ma. Reynafe Momay-Castillo filed before the DOJ the complaint for murder for the death of her father, Reynaldo Geneblaza Momay, a photojournalist for the Tacurong City-based Midland Review.
Momay's body has not yet been recovered to date but Castillo said that the dentures of her father were recovered.
Aside from the dentures, Atty. Gilbert Andres said the Philippine National Police confirmed they have another witness, Peruvian forensic expert Dr. Jose Pablo, who claimed that there was a 58th victim.
Only 57 counts for murder are being tried by Quezon City RTC Branch 221 Presiding Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes.
