BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan -- The 35 candidates vying for Miss World Philippines 2017 arrived here Tuesday night for their Beach Beauty Challenge on Thursday. The event which is open to the public will be held at Savoy Hotel.
Aside from the beach challenge, the candidates are also expected to conduct a beach cleanup activity on this premier tourism island.
The event is being sponsored by the Local Government Unit of Kalibo through Councilor Juris Sucro.
Meanwhile, Jona Sweett, 22 from the capital town of Kalibo is among the 35 ladies competing for the crown.
The 22-year-old beauty queen, whose father is an Australian, was also crowned as Miss Earth Philippines-Ecotourism in 2015.
This time, Sweett wants to bring home the Miss World crown and bring another honor for Aklan.
Miss World Philippines coronation night is slated on September 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena. (PNA)
