Mercury Drugs Donates Medicines to AFP
« on: April 23, 2019, 02:59:38 PM »
MANILA – Mercury Drug Foundation, Inc. (MDFI) on Tuesday donated PHP20-million worth of medicines and medical supplies to hospitals and treatment facilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

This was done through a deed of donation signed by AFP Chief-of-Staff, Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr., and MDFI Board of Trustees member, Jess Mangrobang, in a short ceremony at the AFP General Headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

"We are very thankful to the Mercury Drug Foundation, Inc. for their generosity and for recognizing the services and sacrifices of our soldiers," Madrigal said, noting also the scholarship support given to dependents of AFP casualties.

The processing of requests for medical supplies and medicines from the military treatment facilities will be facilitated by the AFP Surgeon General. The MDFI will then validate and deliver directly to the requesting hospitals.

The donation, which is the third since 2017, will further augment the AFP's own supplies and will benefit military personnel, especially soldiers recovering from injuries sustained in legitimate military operations.

"It was during the height of the Marawi situation when we thought that it was high time to extend our Operation Bigay Lunas to the AFP, because of their heroism, their commitment to protect the country. It is a small thing for us to be part of their journey," MDFI executive director, Annie Fuentes, said.

Madrigal said the importance of this partnership was highlighted during the Marawi City incident, when the requirements for medicines and supplies were high. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
