CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- The town of Masantol in this province has been formally declared as the first municipality in Central Luzon to be cleared from illegal drugs.
This, as all of the 26 barangays of Masantol were cleared from drug infestation after complying with the parameters set forth pursuant to Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No 3 series of 2017.
The awarding of the formal certification was held on Friday at the Benigno Hall, Provincial Capitol Compound, City of San Fernando here.
Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino, director of the Police Regional Office 3, lauded the efforts of the local government of Masantol and police in its strong commitment to eliminate hard drugs.
“Needless to say, I am in awe that while I am still the regional director of PRO3, one municipality under my watch has been declared drug-free and I am proud of this achievement.” Aquino said in his statement.
He expressed optimism that more municipalities and even provinces in the region will soon be declared drug-free because of their intensified barangay drug clearing operations, in partnership with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Aquino asked the public to support them in their anti-illegal drugs campaign as it is not only their fight but also the fight of all to attain drug-free region. (PNA)
