Newly-installed Secretary
Mar Roxas of the Department of interior and Local Government (DILG) is going on leave as the Liberal Party president effective Monday.
Roxas, who took his oath of office as the new DILG Secretary Saturday, said that effective Monday he would already take a leave from their political party so he could truly and impartially fulfill his duty as head of the DILG.
Roxas, who is here to lead the reaffirmation of about seven original LP local members and the mass oath-taking of other new local candidates of Iloilo province, led by former Lakas-NUCD stalwart and reelectionist Gov. Arthur Defensor, Sr. at the Hotel del Rio, said that “today is my last act as party president.â€
He also urged his partymates to continue on in unity in supporting the programs and plans of
Pres. Benigno Aquino III.
“Let this not be a unity of convenience, but we are all together to help and move towards one direction and vision with PNoy for the progress of Iloilo,†Roxas said.
Meanwhile,
Sen. Franklin M. Drilon, who was also present during the LP oath-taking, said in an interview Sunday morning that Roxas took a leave of absence from the party with Cong. Jun Abaya as the most probable person to momentarily take over the helm of LP.
