Four men have been sentence to life imprisonment for abducting and raping two college students in Antipolo City in 2001.
In a 61-page decision dated June 16 but which was promulgated only last week, Judge Bayani Vargas of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 219 convicted Ronald Dorado, Christopher Langones, Joel Dorado and Edgar Rimando of the crime of forcible abduction with multiple rape.
The four were also ordered to pay the complainant, a college student then at the Far Eastern University, P300,000 in moral damages and civil indemnity.
Court records showed the complainant and another female college student of St. Paul College were in a jeepney plying Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City, in September 2001 when four men inside the vehicle declared a holdup.
The complainant was then on her way to school to take an examination.
She said the men forced her and the other girl to give up their belongings. Then instead of allowing them to go, they prevented them from getting off the jeepney.
The four then drove the two girls all the way to a grassy portion on Sumulong Highway in Antipolo City where they were ordered to strip.
The complainant alleged that when she refused, the men removed her clothes and forced themselves on her. She told the court that the four men did the same to the other girl.
