The government of Japan has approved a project that will be implemented by the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) to deliver emergency rice assistance worth USD 200,000 for the victims of typhoon Pablo.
APTERR is a regional cooperation started in 2004 to ensure food security in an emergency caused by temporary and large scale calamities. In October 2011, the APTERR Agreement was endorsed at the 11th Meeting of AMAF (ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry) Plus Three and ratified in July 2012.
Japan has funded USD 6.34 million in total since the start of APTERR’s pilot project. The rice assistance for Typhoon Pablo victims is the first project after the ratification of APTERR agreement.
