Bureau of Fire Protection Deputy Director for Fire Safety and Prevention Senior Supt. Igmedio Bondoc on Thursday warned against imported firecrackers which are considered unregulated and illegal by law.
Bondoc said the imported firecrackers cannot be regulated because the materials used in manufacturing cannot be verified if compliant with the country’s standards.
“Automatic na bawal po yan ([Imported firecrackers] are automatically banned,†he said.
According to Republic Act 7183, only firecrackers containing one-third teaspoonful of gunpowder or less are allowed to be manufactured and used.
