Iloilo City updates comprehensive land use plan
« on: May 06, 2020, 01:29:47 PM »
ILOILO CITY -- City government offices are urged to fully participate in the ongoing revision of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) of this highly-urbanized city particularly in identifying projects for the next 10 years.

During Friday’s post-assessment meeting of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC), Iloilo City Planning and Development Office coordinator Jose Roni Peñalosa announced that small group discussions already started last week and large group discussions in a few days.

He said that concerned offices should cooperate because their participation is “very critical” in the formulation of proposals and identification of projects in the next 10 years.

Peñalosa explained that the ongoing revision of the CLUP is an opportune time for city government officers to propose programs and engineer solutions to disaster prone areas of the city.

The CLUP will serve as basis for budgeting and the annual investment program of the city, he said.
Peñalosa lamented that there was a low turnout of member-representatives during their initial meetings.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) that provides technical assistance in the crafting of the plan in its website said that the CLUP “is a planning document prepared by LGUs (local government units) to rationalize the allocation and proper use of land resources.”

The Local Government Code (LGC) of 1991 and other related laws mandate LGUs to “continue to prepare/revise/update their CLUP, which shall be enacted through a zoning ordinance.” (PNA)
