Ilocos Norte calls on Ilocano writers to submit project proposals

LAOAG CITY, Jan. 11 (PNA) -— The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) is calling on Ilocano writers to submit their project proposals in support to the bi-centennial celebration of Ilocos Norte in February 2018.

Jun Arvin Gudoy, head of the Communication and Media Office (CMO) said the provincial government through the administration of Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa Marcos will now start to accept and screen book project proposals which will be launched in time for the celebration.

Possible topics to be included in the proposal with a grant courtesy of the province shall include the history of Ilocos Norte, short stories for children, language and literature, culture, legal issues, architecture and a documentary of Ilocano heroes.

Open to all writers in all Ilokano-speaking provinces, Gudoy said interested applicants may just submit their project proposals at the CMO for screening.

The book launching is a major part of the bicentennial project highlighting the rich history of Ilocos Norte that spans from the pre-colonial era, Spanish colonization up to the Japanese and American regimes.

Since 2012, Ilocos Norte has been preparing significant projects for the grand bicentennial celebration through the creation of the bicentennial council who will spearhead the events.

The governor said the continuous development efforts of the provincial government in the past years focused on tourism, culture and heritage which residents here must be proud of.

The bicentennial celebration of the province in 2018 will be kicked-off by the marking of the centennial birthday of former president Ferdinand E. Marcos on September 17, 2017. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
