POLICE are conducting a deep investigation to unmask the suspect behind the grenade explosion in an old church in Zamboanga City.
Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) reported that the incident took place around 1 a.m. Saturday at the old San Isidro Church in the village of Talon-Talon, five kilometers east of Zamboanga City.
No one was, however, killed or injured in the explosion that caused minor destruction of the old church's fence and have awaken some of the residents living nearby.
The Explosive Ordnance Demolition (EOD) personnel of the local police have recovered fragment of grenade that was used by the suspect.
They also recovered a letter addressed to Mayor Celso Lobregat which was submitted to the police crime laboratory to trace fingerprints.
No one among the residents living near the church was able to see the suspect since they were asleep at the time of the incident.
