From Mass Wedding to Food Poisoning
« on: May 02, 2012, 10:32:55 PM »
by PNA

Some 50 persons were rushed to the different hospitals in La Union on Monday, few hours after partaking the food served during the banquet for a newly-wedded couple in Barangay Upper San Agustin in Bauang town.

The victims, who include men, women and children, partook in the food served during the wedding of Kathlyn Hipona and Francisco Aquino.

It was learned that the couple were among 18 pairs who participated in a mass wedding held inside Bauang Church as part of the current fiesta of the town.

But a few hours after joining the banquet, most persons who partook the food suffered nausea, vomiting, stomach pains and were weakening.

Mayor Eulogio Martin de Guzman III ordered the investigation of the incident to determine the cause of the food poisoning.

A report stated that initially, Dr. Luzmininda Monico of the Naguilian District Hospital tagged the intake of spoiled food taken by the victims caused by excessive heat of summer prevailing as the reason for the food poisoning.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

the news item's phrase "the victims, who include men, women and children" got me curious.  were there other victims then, aside from men, women and children, like, say, vampires, cats, dogs, etc.?  the word "include" actually did me in.  it implies that there could be other victims aside from the three gender and age demographics mentioned.  just a stray thought... ;D

Can somebody (doctor or grammarian) explain this to me, please? :P

because i'm neither doctor nor grammarian, let me just share my understanding of this oversight by the philippine news agency...

1) dr. luzmininda monico of the naguilian district hospital had put a price, probably at a bargain, on some kind of spoiled food that guests at a wedding helped themselves to.

2) those who partook of the food are called victims.  those who did not are called zombies.

3) the heat of summer, meaning the country's current temperature caused by environmental degradation, is the excess, ab initio, of the bargain food.

4) it is not advisable to have a feast just because there is a wedding.  more so if it's a mass wedding because the food will be just as massed.

5) salmonella typhimurium, salmonella enteritidis, e.coli and gastroenteritis are not psalms nor offshoots of the latin high mass nor precedents of  domine, miserere nobis or kyrie eleison.

di na lang nako dugangan kay moabot unya ko sa ukraine.  adto unya ko masakpan sa chinese school of fish from marlborough shoalin. ;D ??? :P

Hmm, based on the above understanding, Ms. Islander could only be a survivor of a mass wedding or food poisoning, or both... ;D
