Fire Hits Navotas City, Manila
« on: January 31, 2011, 12:48:12 AM »
A huge fire fanned by strong winds from Manila Bay has swept through a congested village in the Philippine capital, killing 12 people and displacing nearly 2,000.

Fire officer Joselito Dugan says seven children were among those killed when the fire broke out late Saturday in San Roque village in Navotas city. He says the blaze burned for five hours and destroyed some 100 homes.

Dugan says investigators were working Sunday to determine the cause of the fire, which started as many residents were celebrating on the eve of an annual religious fiesta.

Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman says the 1,800 residents displaced by the fire are being given meals and shelter at a nearby school. (AP)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
