FILIPINO POLO TEAM IN FINALS OF ALL ASIA CUP 2018
The Philippine National Polo Team is in the finals of the All Asia Cup for the first time. They face the Thai contingent, who won the 2017 South East Asian Games silver, Saturday evening, January 27, on the field of the VR Sports Club in Bangkok.
The Filipinos secured the first finals berth on Wednesday, January 23, after defeating Brunei in the semifinals, 11 to 7. In the Group B eliminations, the Filipinos trounced Indonesia, 12 to 9, and China, 9 to 5.
Representative Michael “Mikee” Romero of the 1-PACMAN Party-list is team captain and with him are Anthony Garcia, Adrian Garcia, and Ricardo Garcia.
The Thais swept aside Brunei, 5 to 2, and Mongolia, 7 to 4, in Group A before beating Indonesia, 9 to 3, in the semifinals. Leading the Thais are the brothers Top and Tal Srivadhanprabha.
On Thursday, Mongolia and China meet to settle who gets fifth place, while on Friday Brunei and Indonesia battle for third place in the subsidiary final match. (END)
