The Philippine School in Bahrain or PSB is going to undergo a $1.5 million expansion at the end of the year, ABS-CBN Middle East News Desk reported.

PSB School Board chairman Rod Acosta said a new building to add to the school will soon rise on a one hectare lot nearby.

The school’s management has agreed to spend Bs500,000 (approximately P70 million or $1.5 million) for the expansion which will ease the overcrowding of classrooms and corridors there.

Acosta said they merely want to address the PSB’s increasing population which is growing by about 10 percent annually.

The new reinforced concrete building will be for the school’s high school department and will have 14 classrooms.

It will be constructed in front of the PSB’s main building that was constructed in 2003.

In addition to new classrooms, there will be a new gymnasium, canteen and dormitory.

The school board showed their plans to Philippine ambassador to Bahrain Eduardo Pablo Maglaya who is also the school board’s adviser.

Construction will begin before the end of the year, and will last for 8-10 months.
