DAVAO CITY -- Law enforcers in Compostela Valley Province killed an ex-Army soldier after an attempt to fire back at the operatives during the implementation of a search warrant Tuesday.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 11) authorities identified the slain suspect as Daz Montefolca alias Daks, 42.
The joint team from PDEA 1I, Nabunturan Municipal Police Station, Compostela Valley Drug Enforcement Unit, Compostela Valley Public Safety Company and Criminal Investigation Division implemented the search warrant in the house of Montefolca at Purok 9, Barangay Poblacion, Nabunturan, Compostela Valley at around 12:10 a.m Tuesday when Montefolca pulled his .38 revolver and exchanged gunfire with the operatives resulting to his death.
The operatives brought him to Nabunturan Doctor’s Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities also took six sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride known as shabu composed of two big plastic sachets, a medium sachet and 3 small sachets weighing 15 grams with a street value of P180,000, assorted drug paraphernalia and the .38 revolver.
The PDEA 11 reported that his live-in partner identified as Nolaizah Lumiguez was also arrested. She is now detained at PDEA 11 detention facility.
The seized suspected illegal drugs were submitted for laboratory test while cases for violation of Section 6, Section 11 and Section 12 of Republic Act 9165 the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against Lumiguez. (Armando fenequito Jr/PNA)
