Four well-dressed young men who spoke fluently in English were arrested for reportedly robbing the passengers of an FX taxi in Quezon City at noon Tuesday.
“The suspects speak to police investigators in fluent English. They denied that they were robbers but they were positively identified by the victims and the victims’ belongings were found in their possession when they were arrested,†Supt. Franklin Moises Mabanag said.
Mabanag, head of the Quezon City Police District’s Mobile Group said one of the four men posed as the driver of the Quiapo-bound FX taxi from Fairview while his companions pretended to be passengers.
The police later found out that the FX taxi used by the group, a white Toyota Tamaraw with plate number UDJ 881, had been reported stolen while it was parked on Scout Lozano Street at around 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
Mabanag identified the arrested robbery suspects as Luciano Torres Soriano, 35; Romulado Bueno Zamora, 22; Lyle Narvaez, 32; and Alberto Brillante. A fifth man was able to escape, he added.
