ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The city government has invited President Rodrigo Duterte to be the guest of honor in the celebration of the 2017 Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
Christian Olasiman, city government’s special events head, on Monday said President Duterte will be the guest of the main program of the festival and street dance competition on October 11 at Paseo del Mar.
The Zamboanga Hermosa Festival will kick-off on October 1. Its highlight is the feast of Our Lady of the Pillar, the most revered saint of this city, on October 12.
“We extended an invitation to President Rodrigo Duterte as our guest speaker. We are just awaiting for confirmation from Malacañang whether he will attend the festivities on October 11,” Olasiman said.
He said there were already initial talks, but there is no confirmation yet from the Office of the President.
The city government has lined up several activities to mark this year’s Zamboanga Hermosa Festival.
The festival, especially the feast of Our Lady of the Pillar, draws thousands of visitors to include foreigners. (PNA)
