DTI: No shortage, price increase of candle in Zambo City
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Oct. 30 (PNA) –- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has warned business establishments selling candles against profiteering as the nation observes All Souls Day.
Dr. Sitti Amina Jain, DTI regional director, issued the warning as she urged consumers to file formal complaint before the agency should they notice exorbitant increase in the price of candles.
“They can be charged of profiteering if proven they are charging exorbitant price and taking advantage of high demand (of candles),†Jain said.
Jain said they are monitoring the prices of candles to include the flowers although there is no suggested retail prices (SRP) for the two products.
She said there are no shortage in the supply of candles, as well as no price movement yet based on their monitoring results.
The flower dealers augment their supply by purchasing from other places since the flower growers from this city could not supply the local market demand.
The demand for flowers and candles are high during this season. (PNA)
