After three days of rains that caused the overflowing of three rivers in this province, the flood water has finally subsided.

Some 2,470 families were affected by the floods in five towns and a city.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management (PDRRM) Division under the Governor's Office reported neither casualty nor damage to public infrastructure.

The catastrophe has recorded 2,470 families evacuated from the seven towns and one city, 41 percent of which came from Sto. Tomas; 15 percent from Kapalong; 22 percent from Carmen, 0.8 percent from Asuncion, 1.6 percent from New Corella, and 18 percent from Tagum City.

Except for Sto. Tomas where P4.6 million worth of damaged crops was declared, no aggregate report as of yet is released by concerned agencies.

After the rescue operations, the PDRRM had the whole day deploying relief goods to heavily affected areas.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Arlene Semblante immediately responded to the request of two local government units for food augmentation. A total of 1,000 packs of assorted goods was distributed to Kapalong, while another 1,500 packs are delivered to Carmen.

OIC Governor Victorio R. Suaybaguio, Jr., and Carmen Mayor Marcelino Perandos personally supervised the relief operations. While the rest of the province is flood-free already, the water in Carmen has not yet fully subsided, being the catch basin of all the flood waters from the hinterlands. - source: PNA
