DUMAGUETE CITY – The earnings of the sub-port of Dumaguete of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) reached the one-billion-peso mark this August, giving high confidence of exceeding its target collection by the end of the year.
Dumaguete Customs Collector Fe Lluelyn Ganir Toring said Thursday that from January 1 to August 31 this year, her office already has a total collection of PHP1.14 billion.
With only four more months to go until the end of the year, Toring expressed confidence her office will be able to meet or even exceed their target collection of PHP1.303 billion.
She said her office only needs to obtain at least PHP40 million a month in the next four months for them to surpass their target.
In previous years, she added, they would usually average more than that per month.
She said two shipments of oil are up for inspection in September, with an estimated PHP100 million in revenues.
The positive collection performance of the BOC’s Sub-port of Dumaguete is largely attributed to Fil Oil for petroleum products, DUCOMI for palm oil importation and Pryce Gas for LPGs or liquefied petroleum gas, the Customs collector here said.
A comparative collection report also showed that the Sub-port’s collection up to August 31, this year, is much bigger than that of the same period in 2016.
The total collection of the Dumaguete Customs office from January 1 to August 31, 2016 was pegged at PHP711,891,783 million compared to the PHP1.14 billion for the same period this year.
The Customs Sub-port of Dumaguete has been consistently cited for many years now for its performance collection that has always exceeded its target each year. (PNA)
