Currimao mayor dies at 83
« on: May 04, 2020, 03:37:02 PM »
LAOAG CITY— Mayor Rosario Chua-Go, one of the longest-serving mayors of Ilocos Norte, died at the age of 83.

Her daughter, Vice Mayor Gladys Go-Que, confirmed this on Monday and said that the mayor’s body is still at the Christ the King Parish in Green Meadows, Quezon City.

She died in the evening of September 2 due to illness associated with age. Her body is expected to be airlifted from Manila to Laoag September 7.

In Ilocos Norte, Gov. Ma. Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos expressed her sympathy to the bereaved family and to the people of Currimao who lost a strong woman leader with a soft heart. For decades, the Gos of Currimao maintained a political stronghold in the municipality.

She served as a three-term mayor and vice mayor of Currimao town.

In 2016, she was elected again as Mayor of Currimao with her daughter and running mate, then Mayor and now Vice Mayor Que. (PNA)
