MANILA, Jan. 25 (PNA) -- Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Agnes Devanadera on Monday said that criminal charges being prepared by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against Jason Aguilar Ivler has been set for filing on Friday, Jan. 29.
Ivler is the suspect in the road rage shooting incident that killed the son of Undersecretary Renato Ebarle, Sr. on November 18, 2009.
He is also the suspect in the road rage incident that killed Undersecretary Mariano Ponce, Jr. in 2005.
"As of Friday (Jan. 22), we were still preparing the charges for Jason Ivler and may be filed Friday (Jan. 29)," Devanadera stressed.
Ivler was arrested in their residence in Blue Ridge, Quezon City last Monday (January 18).
Among the charges faced by Ivler are murder, direct assault, resisting arrest, frustrated murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
"After the charges have been filed, Ivler will have to go to jail from the hospital," Devanadera said.
Ivler sustained bullet wounds after shooting it out with NBI agents when he was being arrested and he was rushed to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) in Quezon City where he is now confined.
Two NBI agents were also injured during the shootout.
"NBI is still trying to determine whether or not there is sufficient evidence to charge the bodyguard of Jason mentioned by Jason's mother," Devanadera pointed out.
Marlene Aguilar-Pollard, Jason's mother, claimed that it was Jason's bodyguard who was involved in the road rage shooting incident that resulted to the death of Renato Ebarle, Jr. last November 18.
