LEGAZPI CITY, Aug. 10 — Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal declared Friday, August 11, as a special non-working day here for all government officials, employees and public schools within the city in celebration of the grand opening of the Ibalong Festival 2017.
Rosal encouraged private and public establishments and national agencies within the city to support the said festival.
In order to fully celebrate the joyous and meaningful grand opening of the Ibalong Festival and entail the whole support of the city government of Legazpi, it is appropriate to declare August 11, 2017, as non-working holiday, he added.
The two-week festival this August will also feature its regular events including the Ibalong Festival Street Dance Presentation, Mutya ng Ibalong Beauty Pageant, and the Ibalong Epic.
Ibalong Festival is a yearly non-religious fiesta depicting Bicol’s early beginnings based on the Ibalong Epic written by the late Prof. Merito Espinas that tells of mythical super heroes, villains, monsters and wild animals in the ancient times. (PNA)
