Mayor Susan V. Parilla has ordered continues search operation to verify and confirm the reported crash of a private plane at Naval’s Imelda village early morning of Tuesday.
A 28-man search team composed of personnel from the Biliran Geothermal Inc, local government unit of Naval and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) of Biliran is ready to take off Wednesday morning to resume the search operation amid the negative result of the aerial survey that was conducted by two choppers of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) today.
Temporarily, the operation was stopped tonight because of the difficult terrain.
The reported crash site is around 30 kilometers away from the town proper of Naval.
It is a mountainous area adjacent to the Culaba town and communication signal is very limited.
Naval information officer Jerome D. Pitao said that Mayor Parilla is not discounting the testimony of three village residents who saw the plane crashed at the mountainous portion of the barangay.
The testimony was corroborated by statements from other locales that they heard a loud explosion.
Also the 11-man search and rescue team, majority are personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) during this morning’s operation, said that there was a smell of fuel and burned tire within the area, which they claimed to be unlikely in a mountainous area, Pitao added.
