CEBU CITY -- A family of three were killed early Thursday as fire razed a bunkhouse of a lumber company in Barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City.
Antonio Paz, 34, his wife Marcela, 33, and 10-year-old son Ancel Jay were reportedly trapped inside the bunkhouse and died of suffocation before their bodies were burned.
Their charred bodies were found on the ground floor of the two-storey bunkhouse located inside the company compound.
Senior Fire Officer 1 John Herediano of the Mandaue City Fire Department said the fire could have started at the ground floor, making escape impossible.
The victims failed to get out due to the blaze and thick smoke, Herediano said.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. (USJR intern Levirose Caballero/PNA)
