CEBU CITY, Philippines – A couple was allegedly shot by their neighbour after an argument over garbage, police said.
The suspect, Isaac Peñalosa Orandain, 39, allegedly shot Lyndon Son, 45, as he was leaving his house in Mactan village, Lapu-Lapu City at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, said Senior Police Officer 2 Rolito Jumao-as.
Orandain also allegedly shot Son’s wife, Maria Melinda, 44, who rushed out of their house after hearing gunfire, Jumao-as said.
The suspect escaped after the incident, he said.
The wife was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital due to a gunshot wound to her chest, while her husband expired at around 7:30 a.m., the police officer said.
The night before the shooting, Orandain reportedly had an argument with the couple over garbage scattered in his backyard, Jumao-as said.
Police learned that the Son and Orandain families had a long standing feud and had been engaged in public fights that had to be settled through the intervention of village officials.(Inquire.net)
