Cebu Lawyer Died in Fire

Three people, including a lawyer and his wife, died in a fire that engulfed their house in Barangay (village) Guadalupe here early Thursday, authorities said.

Senior Police Officer 2 Jay Yballe, chief investigator of the Cebu City police homicide section, said Manuel Pastrana, 79, his wife Norma, 74, and a housemaid named Joy, perished in the fire that broke out at about 1 a.m. in the house in Calderon compound, Sitio (sub-village) Banawa.

Arson investigator Antonio Gonzales said the burned remains of the three were found a few meters from each other in the living room. He said the three were trapped when fire from the ceiling spread.

Witnesses told the authorities that the victims tried but failed to flee the house made of light and concrete materials because the blaze spread quickly.

March was fire prevention month. One family was burning garbage in Jagna and the police asked them to put out the fire as there was a ban on fires during month of March but people here burned it up anyway! hee hee hee

Fire prevention month unta ang March but sad to say
nagsunod sunod ang sunog sa Cebu lately lang ang

Akong best friend sad nasunog ang iya apartment gisak an walay nahipos kay nagwork man siya. Looy intawon kay tapot ra daw sa lawas ang naa niya apil iya pitaka nasunog kay iya man tigbilin ug ang laptop sad. Sa cebu sad ni siya.

tragic kaayo ning hitabo-a, wa ko kaila sa magtiayon pero ginikanan ni sila sa akong fraternity brod sa university nga suod pod naho.

pagkahibawo nako aning balitaa kahinumdom dajon ko sa ahong mga ginikanan mao tawag dajon ko bisan kadlawon to diri. ok ra man sila unja ang balay protected sa circuit breaker mao nang naka-relax ko. karaang balay nga puro kahoy ra ba tong among mansyon hahahaha

maka-relate man gud ko mdb kay sila ahong mga ginikanan sila na lay nabilin sa among balay (although naa poy ig-agaw gapujo uban nila). nasunog na man gud tawon tong among balay a few years back unya mao diay to nga nabutangan ug circuit breaker. majo gani kay natabang dajon sa mga silingan.

mao lagi ning mga balay ug dato....napulos nalang iron grills ang pultahan ug bentana....kay hadlok masudlan ug k******n....
ang problema kon dunay mga hitabo nga ingon ani, wa sab tawon ay kagawasan ang naas sulod.

mao na nga kadtong mga TB peeps nga naay iron grills ang balay, i-edukar jud ang mga naa sa balay unsaon pag gawas kun naay sunog ingon ani.
