TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite, Dec. 28 (PNA) -- The province's chief veterinarian on Wednesday assured the public of safe and disease–free hog meat, poultry and livestock products.
In an interview, Dr. Dominador Borja, chief, Provincial Veterinary Office, said that from 2006 up to this year, Cavite is free from any kind of deadly and contagious livestock diseases such as Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Bird Flu due to active surveillance and monitoring of members of veterinary associations in various animal and backyard farms in the province.
Dr. Borja said that Cavite was not affected by any kind of deadly diseases because of the strict implementation of the veterinary rules and guidelines.
He said that animal quarantine checkpoints in the towns of Alfonso and Carmona as well as in Bacoor City are strictly monitoring the entry of meat and poultry products in the province to avoid "botcha" or "double dead" meat reaching the local markets.
Borja added that the Cavite Meat Inspection Association (CMIA), the Cavite Livestock Inspectors Association (CLIA) and the Cavite Livestock, Poultry, Feed Millers Association are actively monitoring the entry of meat and poultry products.
"You can celebrate your New Year’s eve and for the rest of the year because the chicken and meat products are free from livestock diseases and safe to eat," Dr. Borja assured the public. (PNA)
