The arrest prompted to believe that ecstasy had already penetrated Davao City.PDEA regional director Sr. Supt. Roybel Sanchez said charges of violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, are now filed against the two women.
He identified the suspects as Cherrie Tumaran, call center agent, a resident of Telstar Street, El Rio Village, Davao City and Rosemarie Lim, jobless and a resident of Awhag Subdivision, also in this city.
He said the two suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation they had conducted at Autoshop Nightspot compound along JP Laurel Avenue, this city, this weekend.
He said the operation was conducted after doing surveillance on the suspects.
During the buy-bust operation, Sanchez said two ecstasy drugs were taken from the suspects and two others during search. Each tablet costs P1,800, Sanchez said.
Sanchez added that some people in the city are also placed under surveillance for engaging in selling ecstasy tablets, including that some from Manila who are in Davao City.
He said the brand of the tablets has the same brand on the capsulized ecstasy found from a Canadian national who was killed in a shootout with PDEA agents in Pasig City last August 21. (PNA)
