TAGBILARAN CITY -- The Bohol provincial government is still awaiting word from organizers if the third Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) meeting here would proceed as planned next month.
Acting provincial administrator Mitchel John Boiser said Friday the Bohol government has only been getting feelers but no communications from the national organizing committee yet on whether the meeting will push through.
Earlier reports said Bohol will be hosting a third meeting prior to the summit slated in Manila this November.
The province hosted a trade meeting among ASEAN delegates back in April despite the threat posed by the Abu Sayyaf Group.
Bohol just recently hosted a technical working group meeting of transportation players in the ASEAN in Panglao.
Both meetings were successful with the local government and law enforcers received positive feedback from the delegates.
In both instances, security was tighter than usual especially on the roads leading to the venue.
No-fly and no-sail zones were also effected near the venue as part of the security measures. (Dave Albarado/PNA)
