A relative of former Philippine Army chief Gen. Arturo Enrile complained to the police that he was robbed of cash money and all of his valuables by a taxicab driver along Epifanio delos Santos Ave. (EDSA) in Quezon City Monday morning.
Achilles Ponce Enrile, 32, a call center supervisor residing at Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa City, told the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) that he lost his iPad, Blackberry phone, platinum ring, wallet containing P4,700 in cash, ATM and credit cards, identification cards, and driver’s and firearm licenses.
Enrile said he had just come from work and boarded the cab, a white Toyota Vios with the marking "Romeo Taxi," at around 8 a.m. at Pioneer St. in Mandaluyong City and asked the driver to take him to Caloocan City where he was supposed to meet his girlfriend.
The victim told police investigators under Superintendent Audie Madridejo of the QCPD Station 2 in Masambong that while the cab was traversing the northbound lane of EDSA, he fell asleep on the passenger's seat beside the cabbie.
Enrile said he was surprised when he was awakened by the driver near the SM North EDSA in Bago Bantay and found the suspect holding and aiming at him what appeared to be a .38 caliber revolver.
He added that he was ordered by the cabbie at gunpoint to yield his wallet and all his other belongings before he was forced to alight from the vehicle. The driver then sped away.
Enrile said he immediately looked for policemen and eventually found operatives from the QCPD Station 2 near the old Paramount Theater at the corner of EDSA and West Ave.
