BALANGA CITY, Bataan -- As the highlight of the Tourism Month's culmination, the Bataan Tourism Council showcased Saturday the festival costumes in the province's 11 towns and a city at the Vista Mall here.

The colorful costumes were made of indigenous materials common in each community for which the towns and city are proud of.

Abucay town has a Muslim princess-inspired costume made from juete sack (sako), tahong and walis lasa with sarimanok headdress made from metallic fabric and walis lasa as tail.

From the industrial town of Limay is a mermaid-cut Filipiniana costume made from juete sack, shells, pearl, fish scale, fish net and wood curved fish.

Costume in Orani town is made of indigenous materials like native rope, banig rapia and buli hats decorated with fishnet, artificial prawns and alimango made from dried waterlily.
Orion own's costume is made from sako, abaca rope, mango seeds and mango branches while in Pilar town is a modern Filipiniana costume made from sako, dried corn, rice stalks and rice grains with handpainted carabao and ricefield.

Meanwhile, Samal town's entry is a modern Filipiniana made from juete sack decorated with capiz and pearl.
Bagac takes pride of a Maria Clara costume inspired by woodcrafts from Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar with cashew nuts and egret (tagac) where the town got its name.

The City of Balanga has a floor sweeping festival costume made of sack cloth material featuring floral colored grasses, handpainted jars and logo of city.

A Maria Clara design with figures of bamboo and droplets of water is the festival costume of Dinalupihan town while Hermosa town's costume symbolizes color of duck’s beak that produces balut. Materials used were sack cloth, eggs, plastic roofing for egg crack design and table runner.

In Mariveles town, home of multi-national companies under the Freeport Area of Bataan, is a black and white serpentine costume embellished with high quality bag products.

The clothing material in the festival costume of Morong town, on the other hand, is beach-inspired added with touch of pawikan. (PNA)
