Abucay, Bataan — Authorities in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia reported that Engr. Albert Bautista, a 29-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was killed in a freak car accident last June 4. But when his remains arrived yesterday in this town, his family found his body chopped in five pieces.

Bautista’s coffin was sealed when it arrived in the posh village of Santana, in Capitangan, this town after midnight.

His father, Alfredo, was in grief and refused to give media any more details about what he knows had happened to his son, other than saying: “Durog ang bangkay (His remains are in pieces.)”

Alfredo said he had nothing else to say for it added to his family’s grief.

The OFW left a wife and three children.

Sources close to the family, who refused to be identified, said Bautista’s death was clouded by suspicion of foul play.

They said the Filipino engineer occupied a high and sensitive post in a Saudi company and was involved in checking industrial purchases.

Alfredo did not say whether or not their family will ask government to seek more information on his son’s death, but lamented that no help has come from agencies like the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA).

For her part, Mayor Ana Santiago of this town said she is cautiously working with the family in seeking additional information on what had happened to the OFW.
