Congress' playing of "audiotape" demonstrates rule of law, due process - Bunye
MANILA (1 July 2005) -- Malacañang considered the House of Representative's playing of the "audiotape" not only as a demonstration of the separation of powers between the Executive and the Legislative branches but of the rule of law and due process.
Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye made the statement after legislators finally agreed Thursday to play the controversial wiretapped conversation between President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and an election official.
As this developed, Bunye asked the Filipino nation to keep the Constitutional standards as the country unite to shake off the heady aftermath of political crisis and push the economy forward.
The Palace official acknowledged the expression of support of well-meaning sectors to the administration of President Arroyo the Chief Executive carries out the bold reforms that will continue to uplift the lives of average Filipinos.
Meanwhile, the present administration is appalled by the amount of heckling and insults hurled at the Presidency, and how the Arroyo Government' detractors have become so numb to the repercussions of their acts to the economy - pushing perceptions of uncertainty to the limit and inflicting untold hardships upon the Filipino people.
